Choice 1 - Stop Motion Animation - Part 1 of CPT
15% of final mark
You will create a stop-motion animation using any appropriate subject of your choice. The animation will be shot using a digital camera and put together with a video editing software like iMovie. There is a minimum of 300 photographs and you must add sound - either music or sound effects.
When you import into iMovie you will set each photo to equal 0.1s.
You will also need to remove (or not add in the first place - the Ken Burns effect - that is the auto zoom in on each photo)
Preparation: Theme (no violence or crude subject matter), brainstorm options and objects needed, make a plan (story board), gather what you require (objects, props, characters).
Photographing: Shoot in landscape, should use a tripod, one photo per slight movement.
Animating: Arrange objects for each slight movement - creates illusion of movement.
Computer: Using a video editing software - arrange photos in order of action and add appropriate music/sound effects. (iMovie)
Examples:
flip book
The Nightmare Before Christmas (Tim Burton)
Wallace and Gromit shorts (Nick Park) (The Curse of the Were-Rabbit)
